Honor former mayor with your actions

The best and most appropriate tribute to former mayor Don Canney would be for the present mayor and city council to find a way to use the same intelligence and common sense in dealing with the issues of “all” residents of Cedar Rapids.
He wasn't swayed by country clubbers or high rollers, but had a vision and drive to care for all of us. He was not making decisions to ensure his next election or pad his bank account. He was accessible and he really listened to any concerns you might present to him. The money being paid to our present mayor, city council (part time at best) and city manager is laughable considering what is being accomplished.
Don Canney carried the “ball” for 22 years and was outstanding!
