A Marion man was sentenced Thursday to five years in federal prison after pleading guilty to sending an email threatening to blow up a California school.
According to the U.S. Attorney's Office in Cedar Rapids, information disclosed in court revealed that Andrew Schrock, 25, sent threatening e-mails to a teacher at a Los Angeles, Ca., high school. The messages included threats to “blow up the school” and kill the teacher.
Schrock used an e-mail account belonging to a female student at the school to send the messages. Schrock dated the student online, but began harassing her and her family after they broke up.
Schrock was sentenced Thursday in Cedar Rapids by U.S. District Court Judge Linda R. Reade. Schrock entered a guilty on April 8, 2009 to one count of making a threat involving fire and explosives.
