ANNE ELIZABETH (WELP) FOLKMANN
Newhall
Anne Elizabeth (Welp) Folkmann, 57, left this earthly life to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on June 11, 2021, following an extended illness.
A Celebration of Anne's life will be held from 2 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 4, 2021, at Newhall's Main Park Pavillion, 206 Third Ave., in Newhall. A private family interment will be held at the Keystone Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be
sent to Sarah and Ben Williams, 506 Third St. E, Newhall, IA 52315.
Anne was brought into Don and Carole (Finn) Welp's family on Sept. 10, 1963. Following graduation from St. John's High School in Bancroft, Iowa, in 1982, Anne attended the University of Northern Iowa, where she earned her Bachelor's of social work in 1986.
Anne started her career in social work in Decatur, Ill., and soon thereafter moved to Luzerne, Iowa. She was united in marriage to Donn Folkmann on April 16, 1988. Anne continued her path of social work at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. In May of 1994, they welcomed their daughter, Sarah, into the world. God led Anne to Amenity Hospice (now Compassus) where she worked as a social worker for many years. Anne had a God-given empathetic heart and took great pride in her job and the opportunity to serve others. Anne cherished the many lifelong friends she gained throughout the years.
Anne had a great appreciation for the earth and spent much time planting and tending to her giant gardens full of vegetables, her perennials and trees. She had an eye for unique items she would find in nature, especially rocks. Anne enjoyed traveling, hiking, reading, music and cooking, and was an avid Iowa Hawkeyes fan. What she loved most was spending time with her daughter, Sarah, and son-in-law, Ben. Anne forever will be remembered for her vibrant smile, joyous giggle, contagious energy, adventurous spirit, compassionate and forgiving soul, and her great love for Jesus.
Anne is survived and lovingly remembered by her daughter, Sarah (Ben) Williams of Newhall, Iowa; her mother, Carole Welp of Chandler, Ariz.; five siblings, Kevin (Judy) Welp of Austin, Texas, Molly Doyle of Mankato, Minn., Tim Welp, Sue Welp and Elsie (Jeff) Niklason, all of Chandler, Ariz.; along with five nieces and nephews.
Anne was preceded in death and reunited in Heaven by her beloved father, Don Welp; and infant triplets Alan, Andrea and Hannah Folkmann.
