Re: Dec. 16 article about the Linn County auditor. First, I was not HIS longtime deputy, but I have been a part of the Auditor's Office for 30-plus years. Joel Miller stated there is a lot of “cash coming in and going out.” I never dealt with much cash. “Nobody's analyzing anything” - what does that say about the current staff? They do a great job.
Over the last 28 years, I worked closely with Linda Langenberg and here is what I accomplished: Managed three full-time, six to 10 part-time and other employees; hired, prepared training documents and trained more than 800 election workers; processed all department claims; prepared and programmed five types of equipment; operated seven different voting systems; oversight of voter registration and absentee ballots; redistricted the county precincts three times; converted the voter registration system twice; prepared department budget; election statistics; posted documents online; recorded board minutes. I also learned great people skills from Linda.
This move by Miller will not save any money; in fact, it will increase his spending of your dollars. He is the most wasteful person in the county when it comes to your tax dollars. I was fiscally responsible with my budget.
I enjoyed my relationship with all county employees and wish them well. I am happy to be out of that toxic environment. No more twittering!
