Margaret C. Anton, 75, died on Sunday, Sept. 13, 2009, after a sudden illness. Memorial services are at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Rev. Lloyd Brockmeyer will officiate. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include her husband, Duane; three sons, Alex (Pegi), Andy (Karla) and Alan, all of Cedar Rapids; and brother, Carl (Donna) Yant of Evansdale. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Logan, Marissa, Katharine and Christian; and two sisters-in-law, Hazel Anton of North Platte, Neb., and Charlotte Anton of La Porte City. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Richard Yant; sister, Carol Yant; and a daughter-in-law, Mary Breitbach Anton.Margaret was born on Sept. 22, 1933, in Numa, the daughter of William and Margaret Ghibaudo Yant. She married Duane R. Anton on Sept. 1, 1956, in Waterloo. Margaret was a court reporter for the Sixth Judicial District and retired in 1999 after 30 years of service. She enjoyed playing bridge, supporting the Hawkeyes, playing golf and especially time spent with her many friends and beloved family. Memorial donations may be given to Camp Courageous or the Shriner's Crippled Children's Hospital in Margaret's name.
