Carberry understands rural needs

I am voting for Mike Carberry for Johnson County supervisor because as a Newport Road resident who has spent 20 years advocating for the preservation of the last scenic, biodiverse area remaining in Johnson County, the prospect of four more years of Janelle Rettig on the board scares me.
Rettig campaigned on smart growth but supported rezoning the Dooley Farm, a farm that is 3 miles outside the city limits.
The farming community despises her for her support of the Residential Maintenance Ordinance which implies that farmers don't care about safe housing for their families. Her contempt for rural residents is palpable. She supported two losing candidates (Dick Schwab, Terry Dahms) and is responsible for uniting Democrats and Republicans to elect the first Republican to the board in more than 50 years. Rettig's Sensitive Areas Ordinance is nothing more than a license to 'document and destroy,” and the Mehaffey Bridge project is millions over budget.
Carberry is the only candidate who will address the needs of rural residents. His civil behavior, commitment to the environment and the preservation of farm land and his plans for orderly growth are proof that he is the best choice.
