Operating drones not treated like games
The Gazette Opinion Staff

The United Nations condemns our use of drones to combat terrorism as follows: Drones are operated from many miles away, so there is a danger of developing a PlayStation mentality toward the use of lethal force.
Hogwash. The Central Intelligence Agency provides the information, but the drones are operated by highly trained Air Force professionals who are not apt to regard their mission as a PlayStation exercise.
Why pick on drones only? A version of the same argument could be made against long-range heavy artillery and bombs dropped from high-altitude aircraft. The United Nations hasn't “condemned” these.
The time has come, alas, for us to politely tell the United Nations to shove it. Go find someone else to provide the bulk of your funding. We're tired of providing a platform for a never-ending series of pompous pronouncements that lead nowhere.
