Cedar Rapids police investigate sexual assault of 10-year-old girl

CEDAR RAPIDS – Police say a 10 year-old-girl was sexually assaulted in her southeast Cedar Rapids home last month.
Sgt. Cristy Hamblin said a male acquaintance fondled the girl at a residence in the 1600 block of Fifth Avenue SE on at least one occasion in April, according to a police report. The young girl's parents reported it Friday.
“Physically, she's OK,” Hamblin said.
Hamblin said the man lived at the same residence as the girl, but does not live there now. Police have identified him, but no arrests had been made as of Tuesday afternoon.
An investigation was continuing.
