UNI's Jacobsen gets contract extension, raise
Northern Iowa has agreed to a seven-year contract extension with men's basketball coach Ben Jacobson.
Athletics director Troy Dannen said details are being worked out, but Jacobson will earn about $290,000 a year, bringing Jacobson closer to what other coaches are paid in the Missouri Valley Conference.
Jacobson's old contract paid him $159,000 a year. Dannen said Jacobson's base salary will stay about the same, but he was able to give him a raise through outside sources.
UNI finished 23-11 last season and won a share of its first regular-season MVC title.
