Welcome to our new TheGazette.com. After months of planning, gathering feedback from users on what's most important to you, and ironing out technical details, we're thrilled to unveil our new Web site.
Our new site features improved navigation, with a cleaner look and feel that we hope makes it easier for you to find what you're looking for and to interact with our content more effectively.
Here are the highlights of the major changes we've made:
- More community-generated content, featured prominently on our home page under the “Your Voice” category, along with a link allowing users to easily submit content to us.
- A prominently featured lead story, including links to related information that can help you understand a story more fully.
- Many more headlines on our front page, including the latest news on education, flood recovery and local and state government decisions that affect your lives.
- A more prominent presentation of the latest sports updates.
- A redesigned entry point into our daily conversation, which is now called “On Your Mind” and includes a link to easily submit discussion ideas to us.
- A bigger and better video feature for our daily “Sports Desk” feature, which allows users to play the “Sports Desk” video directly from our home page.
- More prominent display of content from our bloggers, including the popular Marc Morehouse, Mike Hlas, Todd Dorman and Jennifer Hemmingsen.
- Streamlined site navigation, with categories and sub-categories that allow users to find content more quickly and easily.
- Our recently introduced changes on story commenting move also forward to our new site, allowing an improved experience for users who wish to voice their opinion on the stories they see.
We've made many other changes as well in the way we present content and interact with our users with a simple goal: Give users what they want and make their experience with our site more informative, valuable and fun. We hope this is a win-win proposition.
While we've worked hard on these changes, our work isn't done if you're not satisfied. Moreover, we will continue to evolve TheGazette.com to meet changing technology and user habits. If you find something you think could be improved, please email us or call us.
Tell us what you think. We'll listen, and we could be convinced to make even more changes.
