Spotlight on youth

I've had a few questions recently about The Gazette's youth profile feature.

Once a month, I write a profile on an unique Eastern Iowa student. The key word is unique. While the paper does not have a qualifying list for this feature, the students we have picked in the past have something extra that sets them apart from others. Because we only have 12 profiles a year, we are choosy in our selections. 

We have some outstanding youth in Eastern Iowa. Actually, we have more than some -- we have many. And while I can't write a story about all of them, don't let this discourage you from e-mailing nominations to The Gazette's features department (features@gazcomm.com). Your e-mail could result in youth profile story.

explosive youth, consider entering them in this

competition. It's one way for a students to make his or her mark on the world.
