Listen to the grassroots
May. 17, 2010 12:30 am
The statewide Republican gubernatorial primary campaign is another example of how the elitist-controlled party establishment is attempting to thwart the grass-roots effort of the remaining declared traditional marriage advocates to avoid the necessity of staking out a position of its own.
The original three candidates who entered the race last winter were all avowedly opposed to same-gender unions, forcing the party to scramble for a suitable alternative to placate the latent homosexual contingent within state GOP ranks. The former governor was “removed from mothballs” at Des Moines University and “persuaded” to run as a (neo) conservative. The party also “finagled” a relatively unknown entity into the dray as a (pseudo) moderate, thus further ”muddying the political waters.”
This thinly veiled attempt to first marginalize and finally neutralize the remaining genuine traditional values candidate is being aided and abetted by the establishment-controlled major media.
So God speed, Mr. VanderPlaats and may your tribe increase, sir. And to the burgeoning grass roots movements (i.e., Iowans For a Free Tomorrow, Reclaim Iowa, the Tea Baggers, et al), there is a battle to be fought.
God Save the Republic.
