WATERLOO -- Law enforcement agencies are asking for residents' help to solve a series of bank robberies in the Cedar Falls/Waterloo area over the past six months.
The suspect is a white male, 5 feet 8 inches to 6 feet tall, in his 20s.
In the first six robberies he wore a hooded sweat shirt and sunglasses and had a shirt or scarf covering the lower part of his face.
In the latest incident, May 8 at the Veridian Credit Union in the Cedar Falls Hy-Vee Food Store, the robber wore a black wig, stocking cap, sunglasses, bluejeans and a tan long-sleeved button-down shirt.
In each robbery, the man hands the teller a note demanding money and leaves on foot. He has never shown a weapon.
Police say there are similarities among all the robberies, but they cannot determine for sure whether the same person is responsible for them.
Police say anyone who notices something suspicious in a bank should call the Black Hawk Consolidated Communications Center at 911 or (319) 291-2515.
Residents are asked not to take any action if they witness a robbery but rather to get the best description possible of the person involved.
There is a reward of $15,000 for information leading to an arrest and conviction.
Contact the Cedar Falls police at (319) 273-8612, the Waterloo police at (319) 291-4333 or the Federal Bureau of Investigation at (319) 234-4327.
