Campbell, Riders shut out Omaha

Jan. 17, 2010 8:48 pm
OMAHA, Neb. – Jeff Costello and Nick Lappin scored second-period goals, and Cody Campbell
made 28 saves as the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders blanked the Omaha Lancers, 2-0, Sunday night at the Omaha Civic Auditorium.
The Riders (19-15-2, 40 points) jumped ahead of Indiana for second place in the USHL's East Division. They went 2-1 on a grueling weekend that also saw them play Friday night at Green Bay and at home Saturday night against Chicago.
Costello scored on the power play 8:14 into the second, his sixth goal in the last four games and 20 this season. Lappin added his third goal of the season late in the period.
Campbell took care of the rest, winning his second game since being acquired in a trade from Fargo. He lost a 1-0 heartbreaker to Omaha three weeks ago.
The Lancers came into the game with the second-highest point total in the USHL and most goals.
