GRAIN-BIN VILLAGE: Lt. Gov. Kim Reynolds and Agriculture Secretary Bill Northey are co-chairing a campaign to raise $300,000 to assist desperately poor Haitians. The Iowa Food & Family Project aims to provide at least 48 homes - steel grain bins converted into basic housing that can withstand hurricane-force winds. The SafeTHomes are produced by Sukup Manufacturing in Sheffield. The project also will provide food packets.

TRUE TRANSFORMATION: Congratulations to TrueNorth for an impressive revamping of the former Cedar Rapids Public Library building into a new home for its insurance and financial planning business. Meanwhile, the city has begun work on the former TrueNorth property, where the new library is expected to be completed by June 2013. It's all the result of a deal forged by the city as part of flood recovery and reinvestment.
