A Tiffin man is in custody after assaulting a five-year-old child and his girlfriend Sunday night.
According to criminal complaints, officers responded to 320 Main Street in Tiffin for a report of domestic violence. After investigation, officers discovered Jerome L. Johnson and his live-in girlfriend were in an argument over ice fishing when the argument turned physical.
Police said Johnson headbutted his girlfriend, giving her a bloody nose. Johnson also allegedly “sat on a five-year-old girl and threw her.” After being asked how she was thrown, the child told officers she was grabbed by the ankle. She then motioned to officers the way in which she was thrown which police said was “in a way similar to swinging a baseball bat,” the complaint said.
Johnson County deputies would not specify if the child of Johnson's or the girlfriend's.
Jerome Johnson was charged with domestic assault causing injury and child endangerment. He is being held in Johnson County Jail on a $7,500 cash only bond.
