Thank you for your coverage of Linn County's recent designation as a small wind innovation zone (“Not-so-mighty wind projects welcome in Corridor,” May 29).
As a member of the Linn County Board of Supervisors, I was proud to support this initiative to streamline the regulatory process for local farmers and residents in unincorporated Linn County to install small wind turbines on their property to help meet local energy needs, increase the energy independence and promote clean, renewable energy.
Anyone interested in learning more about small wind innovation zones, wind technology and other energy innovations should attend the I-Renew 20th anniversary Renewable Energy Expo from Friday to Sunday at Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids. This expo will highlight Kirkwood's new wind and solar energy training programs and help the public learn about proven renewable energy technologies that work. For more details, visit www.irenew.org.
Renewable energy is a growing economic and environmental success story for Iowa.
