Avenue closing would disrupt traffic
May. 31, 2010 12:07 am
In regard to closing Second Avenue (for the proposed medical mall project): This is a major avenue to our downtown, which everyone is trying to get rebuilt so people will return there. If it were a couple of side streets, that might be different, but a major avenue could cause a lot of problems. No one is giving any of us information as to how the extra traffic on First Avenue will be handled.
If this medical group can afford to build this large complex, they need to factor in sky walks to eliminate the traffic flow problems. Why should all of the citizens of Cedar Rapids have to suffer such a significant change to accommodate this facility?
Trying to make things more convenient for patients is commendable, but leave Second Avenue alone.
