(AP) - The Dubuque Community School District has rehired 22 teachers and two nurses who were told earlier this year that their jobs were terminated.
In May, the school board in Dubuque unanimously approved the layoffs of 70 teachers, five nurses and one administrator. They were put on a recall list. Stan Rheingans is executive director of human resources for the district. He says the 22 teachers and two nurses were rehired.
Those rehired will either return to their original jobs or teach at the same level at another school. They were recalled after other teachers and nurses resigned.
