DR. LINDA GEPHART FIELDING

Dr. Linda Gephart Fielding, born Thursday, Oct. 5, 1950, died on Friday, June 18, 2021, from complications related to Alzheimer's disease.
Dr. Fielding was a lifelong educator, who dedicated her life to uplifting and supporting the countless students she encountered, as well as enriching the minds of every person she met. She received a Master's degree from The University of Florida in Gainesville and went on to obtain a Doctorate degree from the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana. Her journey as an educator took her across the East coast and through the Midwest until she settled in Iowa City, where she began a professorial career at The University of Iowa, from where she would eventually retire. She was known for her quick wit, a deep connection to reading and exploring literature, a love of jazz music and her beaming smile. She is survived by a small, but resilient, family.
Friends and colleagues in Iowa City are planning a celebration of Dr. Fielding's life in the Fall of 2021. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that those who wish to contribute, do so to the Dr. Linda Fielding Scholarship Fund, to be established in the coming months.
