Letter: Road opponents lack common sense

The Dec. 19 Gazette devotes half of page 3 to a story from the Washington Post 'Study: Roads carving up ecosystems” describing a recent article in the journal 'Science” wherein 10 conservation scientists from around the world have determined that the building of roads is harmful to the ecosystem. Their obvious conclusion is that the protection of the ecosystem is more important than the roads needed for economic development of humans. With this kind of reasoning, I would assume that this bunch of scientists believe we'd all be better off if our country had never been developed.
This excess of political correctness demonstrates a lack of common sense that questions the credibility of excessively zealous environmentalists.
