Brightening holiday for seniors deserves thanks
The Gazette Opinion Staff
Dec. 29, 2013 2:41 pm
On behalf of the staff at Home Instead Senior Care, I would like to thank everyone who helped with this year's successful Be a Santa to a Senior program.
With support from generous shoppers, Hy-Vee Grocery & Drug stores, KMRY Radio, Coopers Mill, F & M Bank, Premier Investments, Heinz employees, Schneider Electric, Linn County Offices, General Mills, Hope United Church, Stamats Communications employees, Keystone Cedars and Keystone Place residents and Summit Point residents, we were able to collect more than 1,000 gifts for local seniors who otherwise might have been overlooked this holiday season.
We also would like to thank the many volunteers who shared their time to collect, wrap and deliver the gifts to more than 750 seniors, many of whom struggle to make ends meet. The Cedar Rapids and Marion Fire Departments delivered gifts in addition to checking on smoke detectors in the homes of our seniors.
Thanks to all those who helped us brighten the holidays for our local seniors.
