46-year-old man shot in northwest Cedar Rapids

Shooting was reported early Friday at an apartment complex

CEDAR RAPIDS — Police are investigating a shooting that happened just before 9:30 a.m. Friday in northwest Cedar Rapids.

Officers were called to the 5000 block of First Avenue NW for a report of a shooting behind an apartment complex.

Shortly after that, a 46-year-old man was brought by private vehicle to a Cedar Rapids hospital with a gunshot wound to the leg, police said.

The shooting appears to be a targeted incident and is being investigated.
