Kara Callahan and Benjamin Johns of Seattle, WA are pleased to announce their engagement. Kara grew up in Coralville, IA, graduated from University of Northern Iowa with a BA in

psychology and moved to Seattle after serving in the United States Peace Corps. She now works as a trainer in health education. Ben grew up in

Seattle, holds a Masters in Mental Health counseling from Antioch

University and helps Spanish-speaking populations access resources and healthcare.

Their parents are Jan Crawford, Kevin and Jackie Callahan, Barbara Johns and Richard Hesik, and Bill and Connie Johns. Kara's grandmother is Peggy Crawford of Cedar Rapids.

Kara and Ben fell in love in the

Cascade mountain range, and will wed in the mountains on July 12, 2014.

After that, they plan to adopt a dog that is also into hiking.
