Weinacht ready to support growth

In the early 1980s, a car pulled up in front of the building as I was leaving my job, and a raspy motherly voice said, “Get in, we're going to Manchester for the second district meeting.” It was state representative Doris Ann Peick, a teacher, motivator and lifetime volunteer.
Juan Cortez was a round, well-built man with distinguished features. His ability to persuade and encourage was monumental; his love for the community, like “mother Peick,” was unquestionable.
“Are you registered to vote,” she said. “I'm new here,” I said. She took my name and address, I asked her name, she said, Jean Oxley. The next day Jim Burrell and a friend were standing on my porch.
You may not know these individuals or agreed with their politics. Nevertheless, they did care for their community, with different styles in achieving their goals. There were so many mentors and teachers of service “back in the day,” who cared and worked bipartisan.
Well, this is a new day and I have a new friend. Her name is Susie Weinacht and she is a candidate for at-large Cedar Rapids City Council. She has the unique experience of working with the public and private sector. She will bring passion, leadership, teamwork, and most important, concern for our children and seniors. She will keep her word for the betterment of the community. She has what it takes to work with all groups in support of the growth of our city. Vote for Weinacht.
