Reinsager, Thomas G.
WEST LIBERTY - Thomas G. Reinsager, 69, died suddenly Friday, Sept. 24, 2010, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City. A celebration of Tom's life will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at the West Liberty Community Center, with a luncheon to follow.
Tom was born June 11, 1941, in Muscatine, Iowa, the son of Harry and Lucile Thompson Reinsager. He was a graduate of West Liberty High School and the University of Iowa. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving during Vietnam. On Dec. 3, 1966, he was united in marriage to Karyl Heither in West Liberty.
Upon the failing health of Tom's father he returned from the military to work in the family restaurant, Crystal Café, which he continued to operate until 1985. Later that year Tom and Karyl purchased the Downtowner Restaurant, operating it until his retirement in 2007.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church. He was an avid Cubs, Bears and Hawkeye fan. He enjoyed reading, working crossword puzzles and especially enjoyed his children and grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Karyl of West Liberty; one daughter, Tammy (Don) Boehme of West Liberty; two sons, Terry Reinsager and Ted Reinsager, both of North Liberty; three grandchildren, Jake, Nick and Zoey Boehme; and a special friend, Lisa Rundall.
