Iowa City West got 18 points from McKenzie Piper and 10 from Shahana Williams en route to a 61-49 Mississippi Valley Conference girls' basketball victory last night against Cedar Rapids Prairie in Iowa City.The Women of Troy, ranked third in Class 4A, maintained its two-game advantage in the Valley Division of the MVC. West is 13-1 overall, 10-0 in conference play.Alyssa Weiland scored 17 points to lead the scoring for the Hawks (3-11, 2-9). Madison Dellamuth added 12.The Hawks connected on six 3-point field goals.

JEFFERSON 24 - Emily Walvoord scored 16 points to lead Cedar Rapids Xavier in a conference victory at Jefferson.Xavier improved to 12-3 overall and 8-3 in Mississippi Valley Conference games.Alex Saxen chipped in with 10 points for the Saints, who remained two games behind Iowa City West in the Valley Division.Rachel Broghammer scored 12 points to lead the scoring for Jefferson, which dipped to 5-8 overall and 4-7 in the MVC.

KENNEDY 42 - Kiah Stokes led all players with 25 points as Class 4A No. 2 Linn-Mar picked up a Mississippi Valley Conference road victory over Cedar Rapids Kennedy in Cedar Rapids.Kailee Karr added 18 points and Shanice Cheatham contributed 12 points for the Lions (14-1, 10-1 MVC).Courtney Strait led the Cougars with 17 points. Kennedy fell to 5-8 overall and 5-6 in the MVC.
