MASON CITY - Third-ranked Mason City Newman rolled into the Class A semifinals Friday night with a 33-7 victory over Postville.
Gabe Dunn started the offense for the Knights with a 46-yard field goal and followed that with a 15-yard touchdown pass to Casey Hall. He added a 36-yard field goal to make it 13-0 Newman at halftime.
Newman (11-1) broke the game open in the third quarter with its defense, forcing Postville to punt into a strong wind, and by taking advantage of three Postville turnovers (two fumbles and an interception).
Most of the quarter was played inside Postville's 30-yard line. Dunn rushed for a 10-yard score and Clayton White added TD runs of 20 and 10 yards.
Zach Steffans hit Riley Brockway for a 47-yard pass for No. 8 Postville's lone score.
The teams faced off in a non-district matchup in Week 7, and the Knights prevailed 42-7. Postville closed at 10-2.
Newman plays Lisbon in the semifinals.
