Slach, Ruth P.
Ruth P. Slach, 93, a resident of Winslow House Care Center in Marion, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Friday, Jan. 22, 2010. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. The Rev. Lloyd Brockmeyer of St. Paul's United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Survivors include a sister, Shirley Mathes of Bellingham, Wash.; two brothers, Philip Rummells of Cedar Rapids, and Gene Rummells of Arkansas; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and six brothers and sisters.
Ruth was born Jan. 27, 1916, in West Branch, to William and Mabel Rummells. She was employed at Rockwell Collins, working in production for many years. She married Francis J. Slach in 1939 and he died in 2004. Together they enjoyed square dancing, and spent the winters in Mesa, Ariz.
