Point out negative Tea Party influence
The Gazette Opinion Staff
Aug. 16, 2011 3:52 pm
The Aug. 11 Gazette editorial pointed out that blaming Tea Party members would be a cop-out. The editorial stated that “The Tea Party's most positive contribution was to bring the nation's $14 trillion-plus debt to the forefront as never before.” But then it goes on to say that to get a more serious reduction in the debt and budget deficit “requires some revenue increase.”
I see a definite contradiction here as it is my understanding that the main weight of the Tea Party was against any revenue increase and that is what caused the gridlock. I also found it interesting that the editorial made no mention of any of the Tea Party's possible negative contributions. I see this as slanted.
