Inform yourself on transmission line effort

To some landowners of this county: You soon may receive or perhaps already have received your certified letter from Rock Island Clean Line depending on its final route. Said letter will tell you that it is going to build a 600-kilovolt, direct-current, high-voltage transmission line. And you, lucky landowner, will be able to sell them an easement across your property. You will be paid top dollar as well as damages for crop loss, etc., so they say.
However, things will never be the same for your land or farming practices again. Land devaluation, limited aerial spraying, tax liabilities, health concerns, very tall poles marching across your field and general inconvenience.
This is not a done deal and many of us here in the first six notified counties of Iowa are fighting this line.
