CEDAR RAPIDS -- The city of Cedar Rapids will pay outgoing City Manager Jim Prosser one year of his annual $165,000 salary in a lump sum within seven days of today, his last day on the job.
Prosser also will be allowed to participate in the city's health insurance program for one year or until he starts a new job, according to the severance agreement between the city and Prosser.
In the agreement, members of the City Council and Prosser agree “not to engage in any vilification” of each other or to do anything that would damage a reputation. If the council or Prosser violate this part of the agreement, they can be liable for damages of $25,000.
The agreement recognizes that the city will continue to have an obligation to defend Prosser and indemnify him from any litigation whether groundless or otherwise. Prosser also agrees to assist the city in any ongoing claims or grievances.
