Simple joy and peace is possible

To the editor:
In the early morning, just when the sun first slivered over the horizon, a deer stood waiting for me to step out and offer a few crusts of bread. It came up very close to nibble bits tossed on the ground. After the feeding, we paused quietly, standing within a few feet of one another, not moving and unafraid.
In that silent moment of shared solitude, beast and man experienced a brief interlude of simple joy and peace on earth.
