You have an opportunity to re-elect a Cedar Rapids school board candidate who reflects values and goals most of us share: hiring and retaining quality teachers, providing stable funding and being financially responsible, ensuring students' basic needs are met and providing a challenging curriculum so our graduates are ready for college or the workforce.
John Laverty has more than 20 years experience working in higher education and maintains close ties to educators and administrators around the state and region. He is a parent volunteer and PTA member at his children's schools in Cedar Rapids. We have known him for many years and he is a quality, dedicated, professional individual who will work hard to maintain excellence for our schools.
