Laurel Blanche Ocenosak, 80, of Marion, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, June 17, 2021, at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Family will greet friends from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 23, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marion. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Church, celebrated by the Rev. Jacob Dunn. Private family inurnment will be held at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Marion is assisting the family.
Laurel was born on Nov. 19, 1940, in Sobieski, Wis., the daughter of Felix and Esther (Mecikalski) Golonka. On June 10, 1961, Laurel was united in marriage to Frank Emery Ocenosak in Pulaski, Wis. She worked for Rockwell Collins, Sieferts and Sears. Laurel was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marion and the Lindale Mall Walkers. Gardening and cooking were her passions. She enjoyed babysitting and spending time with children, especially her grandchildren, and was very fond of her dog Buffy.
Laurel is survived and lovingly remembered by her husband, Frank Ocenosak of Marion; two children, Lynn (Jeff) Christopherson of Alburnett, Iowa, and Brian Ocenosak of Cedar Rapids; three grandchildren, Shanda (Nick), Taylor (Lan) and Jacob; three great-grandchildren, Kaylin, Kole and Luna; a sister, Linda (Ken) Pontzloff of Liberty Township, Ohio; a sister-in-law, Marilyn Ocenosak of Prairie du chien, Wis.; a brother-in-law, Robert (Ann) Ocenosak of Sacramento, Calif.; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Jeff Ocenosak; three sisters, Patsy Spyhalski, Delores Golonka and Sandra Golonka; and brother, Eugene Golonka.
