The Sports Desk: Recruiting picks up, PTL first impressions
Marc Morehouse

Iowa went into last week with one football recruit. Just more than a week later, the number has grown to five.
The "On Iowa" staff of Marc Morehouse and Scott Dochterman talk about the three who've made their commitments known since last Monday -- DE Drew Ott, CB/WR Reece Fleming and P Connor Kornbrath. WR Cameron Wilson committed to the Hawkeyes before last week's On Iowa Sports Desk, brought to you by Dave Wright Subaru.
Here's a link to today's webcast.
Ott is a 6-4, 235-pound defensive end prospect from Giltner, Neb. He wanted an offer from the Huskers, but NU passed. Fleming is a 6-1, 185-pounder with multiple skills. The day he committed to Iowa, he picked up a scholarship offer from Wisconsin. Kornbrath is a top-10 punter in the country. This shows how highly the Iowa staff values special teams. If Iowa can get another Ryan Donahue, it's going to take a swing at that and let competition shape the roster.
Also, Scott talked about which Hawkeye has stood out in the first few weeks of the Prime Time League. Devyn Marble, a sophomore guard for the Hawkeyes next winter, has noticeably stepped up his game. Incoming freshman Aaron White stood out on Sunday.
Also, the "On Iowa" podcast has a Twitter questions section. We brought that over into the webcast with @pfac51 asking about what it means to have two punters on scholarship.
Thanks for the Twitter responses! Same time next week.
