Letter: No logic behind new fireworks law

I am having difficulty understanding the logic behind legalizing fireworks. I understand people will buy fireworks in Iowa and not Missouri. In theory, that should generate more income for the state of Iowa. I understand the concept of personal freedom in America. That's what we celebrate on July Fourth.
Will there be more revenue due to fireworks sales when we consider the increase in fire and police calls/time? How about the increase in house fires? Sure hope any folks who wind up in emergency rooms have health insurance.
True freedom includes everyone's rights. What about the rights of the scared babies, the veterans with PTSD, our pets, the wildlife and the elderly (some of whom have breathing problems). Smoke and noise from fireworks irritates. Seems like this law takes away these folks' freedom and confines them to a closed windows home.
Is there a solution that takes into account all? Maybe folks who want to do their own fireworks should have only one or two evenings between certain hours to do them. We would all know it was coming and prepare ourselves. Right now, the time period is too long and we don't know which nights our neighbors will choose to start the fireworks show.
