Traffic cameras help when police aren’t there
The Gazette Opinion Staff

In a July 12 letter, the writer says the police officers who monitor the city's traffic cameras would probably rather be “pursuing and jailing the criminals among us.”
Hello? If you run a red light or exceed the speed limit, you are a criminal. I think the cameras are a great idea. How many times have you seen a lawless driver cruise through a red light, or pass you on I-380 like you're standing still, and thought, “Boy, where are the cops when you need them”?
The police can't be everywhere at once.
The traffic cameras give them a helping hand. If you don't break the law, you have no worries.
