Ticketed drivers vow not to return to C.R.

I wonder if the mayor and City Council ever read the letters that are submitted to the city clerk's office? These letters are posted on the city website and the letters indicate that they all receive a copy.
I read these letters on a regular basis and have noticed a certain pattern. Have they ever counted how many complaint letters the city clerk's office receives regarding the city's red light and speed cameras?
Every week, various residents from different locales write that they received a ticket for either speeding or running a red light. And they all state that because of this, they will no longer patronize our city. Some state that they will post on their Facebook page not to patronize Cedar Rapids because of the cameras.
This seems silly, but can our city afford to continue to lose customers or do we make up this lost revenue in the fines received?
