A yes vote protects people and the city

My wife and I were both born and raised in Cedar Rapids. It is home for us and our three children. We love the area, enjoy the people, and we both work at great local companies. I feel an obligation to speak up in support of the local-option sales tax extension.
It is clear where the money will be spent: 50 percent to establish a flood protection system on both sides of the river, 40 percent for existing street improvements and 10 percent for property tax relief.
One reason we love Cedar Rapids so much is the caring and responsible people that live here. Voting yes for the sales tax is a vote to protect all people in Cedar Rapids and protect the City for the future.
While everyone can probably come up with something they do not like that the city has done in the past, this is not the time to harbor those ill feelings. Vote yes.
