Letter: Revenue from traffic cameras is needed

While the Iowa House struggles with the state budget cuts, saying that there is not enough revenue to support education, the state's infrastructure (highways, parks, etc.), nor funds for environmental causes (clean water) or mental health resources; they are considering banning traffic cameras.

Why, because these cameras rake in so much revenue for the cities that have deployed them?

Maybe, instead of banning the cameras, they should consider deploying them along the highways that they are having so much trouble repairing and finding such difficultly in funding an adequate highway patrol.

The state could benefit from a steady source of revenue, improve public safety and wouldn't have to raise any taxes. Why the state might be able to fund other safety-related items that are sorely needed, such as school bus stop arm cameras.
