Arraignment set for Cedar Rapids teen charged with murder

Denem Null, 16, of Cedar Rapids, charged with first-degree murder in the shooting death of a Cedar Rapids man, will be arraigned Feb. 26 in Linn County District Court.
Trial information was filed today. Null is expected to enter a written arraignment at 8:30 a.m. Feb. 26 and not appear in court.
Null is accused of shooting Kevin Bell, 26, at Bell's apartment, 113 First Ave. SW in Cedar Rapids on Jan. 11.
Police said Null was one of three males who broke into Bell's apartment in an attempt to rob him but Bell was shot in the head.
Gabriel Taylor, 17, of Cedar Rapids, also is charged in Bell's murder. Null remains in jail on a $1 million bond.
