Judy Walter, 75, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Wednesday, June 16, 2021. Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Cedar Rapids is assisting the family.
Judy was born on Nov. 4, 1945, in Wellman, Iowa, the daughter of John G. and Vera Ellen (Yoder) Gascho. She
was united in marriage to Jerry Walter on Nov. 17, 1962. The couple later divorced in 1989. Judy worked as a cook for the College Community School District, and in packaging at the Little Drug Store. She was a strong woman of faith and attended Antioch Christian Church in Marion.
Judy enjoyed watching the Denver Broncos and Iowa Hawkeyes. She loved butterflies, hot air balloons and watching the clouds for shapes in the sky. Judy enjoyed spending time with her Tuesday Group friends, including Judy Boardman, Karen Bardwell, Chris Lewis, Willow Lyn and Sharon Bergeron. Judy was a selfless, loving and giving person who always thought of others before herself.
Survivors include her children, John Walter (fiancee, Renee Paisley) of Hiawatha, Iowa, and Joanie Jennings (Kerry Adams) of Fairfax, Iowa; grandchildren, Cody Walter and Travis (Ashley) Jennings; great-grandchild, Shae Jennings; siblings, Janice Berger, Karen (Doug) Dunn, and David (Mindi) Gascho; as well as several nieces, nephews and extended family members.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Vera Gascho; sister, Muriel Lehman; and fiance, Deane Sarby.
