David Christopher Steele, 69, of Cedar Rapids, passed away on Wednesday, June 16, 2021, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha, Iowa, following a brief illness. Memorial Service: 1 p.m. Monday, June 21, at Teahen Funeral Home.
David was born on July 9, 1951, in Tulsa, Okla. He enjoyed traveling and spent his younger years in New Orleans. David returned to Tulsa where he met and married Susan Steele, and together had son, Christopher. The family relocated to Anamosa in 1993. He later re-married Maria Steele and lived with her and their beloved pets in Cedar Rapids. David enjoyed films of all types and was very handy, often working on projects and woodworking. He also enjoyed photography, camping and fishing.
Survivors include his wife, Marizon Steele of Cedar Rapids; son, Christopher (Amanda) Steele of Des Moines; daughter, Jennifer (Darrin) Jasgur of Mobile, Ala.; brother, Dan Steele of Tulsa, Okla.; grandchildren, Finn Jasgur, Sarah Hughes and Asher Donovan; stepson, John Paulo DelaPaz; and niece, Sheridan Steele.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ivan Eugene Steele and Mary Jane Croover; and grandson, Leo Jasgur.
