Mourning doves should not be hunted

I had to express my thorough disgust regarding the new law passed so hunters can shoot mourning doves in Iowa. The mourning dove is a symbol of peace and their soft cooing sound will be silenced because hunters are running out of birds to shoot to fulfill their thirst for the kill. The pheasant population has decreased to the point where they are difficult to hunt.
Now they bring in all the treats that doves enjoy so they can entice them together to be slaughtered. I ask: What's next - robins?
I am really disappointed in Gov. Branstad for signing this into law. Most Americans are trying to keep the populations of birds and animals from becoming extinct. He will never get my vote.
