Kernels drop 4th straight
COMSTOCK PARK, Mich. - The Cedar Rapids Kernels were held to three hits and dropped their fourth consecutive Midwest League game Sunday afternoon, 6-2, to the West Michigan Whitecaps.
The teams conclude their three-game series Monday night.
West Michigan (29-28) scored three times on five hits in the bottom of the first inning against losing starting pitcher Sam Gibbons (0-1). The Kernels (35-22) scored their only runs in the third, one scoring on an error, the other on an Edgar Corcino RBI hit.
Brett Doe had two of Cedar Rapids' three hits.
