Fifth Season course was safe, cost effective
The Gazette Opinion Staff

The Cedar Valley Running Association is sorry that we had to change the Alliant Energy Fifth Season course this year. We love the neighbors who have supported our runners for 25 years. Unfortunately, we are limited on routes, and because of several construction areas downtown and around our old course, we were forced to change.
We looked at 10 or more courses. All have to be approved by the city, police, fire, insurance, etc. It is a long process. The course we chose was the safest for our runners and cost effective.
It takes a lot to putting on an event this size. If anyone would like to join that process, please contact us. We can always use the help.
We are a non-profit club and money is an issue. All funds go to a charity or right back into the race for the next year.
I encourage you to gather your friends and come support the runners with us on July 4.
