Bourbon & Blues Festival
Enjoy the three 'b”s - blues music, bourbon and barbecue at this three-day festival featuring live music, libations and food. The lineup includes Bernemann Brothers Band, 6 to 9 p.m. Friday; The Brothers Almanac, 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday; Randy McAllister, 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday; and Kevin 'B.F.” Burt, 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday. Bring chairs and picnic blankets. No reservations taken, and no outside food or drink permitted.

JULY COMMUNAL KITCHEN DINNER
Experience Amana's original dining experience at the Communal Kitchen Museum. Enjoy traditional Amana recipes and hear a little history. A walking tour of Middle Amana begins at 5:30 p.m., with dinner at 6:30 p.m. Reservations and prepayment required. The menu includes beef, spinat (spinach), fried potatoes, two cold salads, cooked horseradish, bread and butter and obstkuchen (fruitcake).

Taste of Plum Grove
Taste the fruits of the Johnson County Master Gardeners' labor, with a little side of history. Sample an assortment of fruits, vegetables and herbs from the 1850s historic garden of Friendly Lucas, wife of Gov. Robert Lucas.

The Class Act's World Culinary Tour: New Zealand
Join the Class Act restaurant at The Hotel at Kirkwood Center for a culinary journey around the world. Each month highlights a different country's cuisine with a multicourse meal created, produced and executed in part by Kirkwood's Culinary Arts students. This month, try the flavors of New Zealand. Upcoming stops include Japan, Argentina, Thailand, Polynesia and Germany.
