Iowa voters: Make Mexico priority two

To the editor:
On Feb. 1, the Iowa caucuses are first up in the presidential election cycle.
Iowans have the potential for pinpointing the major problems confronted by the vast majority of U.S. citizens. Let's give it our best shot!
Income inequality has a devastating effect on a high percentage of citizens. The 2015 Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development Quality of Life Report shows the United States' poverty rate is 37th of 39 member nations, and is exceeded by only Mexico and Israel. The U.S. has a murder rate that is 30th of the 31 nations recorded. Only Mexico fared worse. Worldwide the U.S. has the highest rate of incarcerations.
Choose your candidate. My choice will be the candidate who formulates a foreign policy that focuses on Canada and Mexico. Canada enjoys the quality of life benefits similar to European countries. Canada is a true one-person one-vote democracy with a Federation form of government similar to what we enjoyed in the 1970s. Canada is thought to be the nation with the greatest immigrant diversity. And while our U.S. education is bogged down in the failed No Child Left Behind program, Canada is one of only three non-Asian Pacific top 10 education countries.
We need new paradigms. We should elect a dynamic president capable of motivating Mexico to move beyond their debilitating flat tax system and promoting the transfer of foreign investment ventures from China to Mexico.
