Vinson, Carolyn J.
Carolyn J. Vinson, 73, of Hiawatha, died Saturday, Jan. 14, 2012, at her home following a long illness. Memorial services: 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 21, at Teahen Funeral Home in Cedar Rapids. Inurnment: Palo Cemetery at a later date. Friends may visit at the funeral home Saturday after noon
Carolyn is survived by her son, Daniel (Marsha) of Palo; grandchildren, Brandon Vinson, Alicia Hayes-Kerr, Brandi (Brian) Vercande and Garyn Claypool; great-grandchildren, Peityn, J.C. and Shayler; sister, Jeanne Bjornson of North Liberty; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis; sister, Hazel; and brother, Willard J. Martin.
Carolyn Joyce was born March 29, 1938, in Anamosa, the daughter of Francis Wesley and Bertha Lilly Blood Martin. She married Lewis Clayton Vinson an June 30, 1956, in Tipton.
Carolyn was always ahead of the game. She walked at two months and was pushing a baby stroller at four months. This eventually led to an enjoyment for water skiing and dancing, which she enjoyed very much. In her earlier years Carolyn and Lewis liked camping with the family. She was a Brett Favre fan, liked shopping at the Salvation Army, and driving around in her red convertible.
Her cat Princess will always hold a special spot in her heart. Above all she loved her grandchildren and enjoyed watching them grow in sports, music, and other activities.
